(Daily Mail) - A Reno-area woman says she was fired as a baggage handler at Reno-Tahoe International Airport last month after she refused to load an emaciated hunting dog on a plane.
Lynn Jones of Lockwood said her supervisor told her to load the dog lying in a pet carrier because the animal’s paperwork was in order and its condition wasn’t her concern.

Marcus Luttrell was the only survivor of Operation Redwing, a SEAL operation in Afghanistan that left 19 American troops dead in 2005.

(Associated Press By JUSTIN JUOZAPAVICIUS) - Horses could soon be butchered in the U.S. for human consumption after Congress quietly lifted a 5-year-old ban on funding horse meat inspections, and activists say slaughterhouses could be up and running in as little as a month.
Slaughter opponents pushed a measure cutting off funding for horse meat inspections through Congress in 2006 after other efforts to pass outright bans on horse slaughter failed in previous years.

Gina Robins, 30, asked to use the 770 watt device to heat some baby food but instead shut the animal inside and switched it on, Torbay magistrates heard.

(Daily Mail) - Spared from the dinner table, a wild turkey pierced by an arrow has been saved by kind-hearted California veterinarians.
The fowl, nicknamed Tom the turkey, had been roaming around with an injured rump for over a week before he was captured using a net and gun.
