(AFP) - Los Angeles Angels fans gave Albert Pujols a rapturous welcome as the slugger arrived in Southern California after signing a 10-year, $254 million contract.

BOSTON (AP) — Starbucks has stopped tacking on a fee for bags of coffee beans that weigh less than a pound.

(Daily Mail) - The Pentagon detention centre at Guantanamo Bay has been declared the most expensive prison on Earth.
The Guantanamo Bay Prison, which opened on the U.S. naval base in Cuba in January 2002, costs U.S. taxpayers $800,000 per year per each of its 171 inmates, according to a new report.

(Daily Mail) - An agent at one of America’s biggest sports agencies is accused of using a porn star to help him recruit new players for his agency.
Porn star Bibi Jones claimed in an interview that she used to accompany Gaylord Sports Management agent Terry Bross to bars where he would talk to baseball players that he was hoping to sign.

(Jennifer Hong, newsoxy) - Amazon is selling a book written by convicted killer Charles Kembo. It consists of 372 pages and was released by Publish America on Jan. 20, 2010.
Now, The Trinity of Superkidds: Quest for Water, is being sold at Amazon. The publish date coincided with Kembo’s trial on four counts of first-degree murder, according to British Columbia publication The Province.

McRibs are back on McDonald’s menus – and, for a limited time only, the pork and barbecue sauce sandwich promises ‘sweet, saucy temptation’ and a ‘fantastically flavourful’ ‘dream’ of a meal.
But the dreams end there, according to the Humane Society of the U.S., which has condemned the global fast food giant for selling pork that is reared in unethical conditions.

(NY Daily News By BRIAN KATES) – Contractors working on a $13-million Brooklyn affordable housing project paid thugs to throw acid and beat workers who blew the whistle on a kickback scheme that led to the indictment of a top city official, court papers show.
The contractors worked for Bogdan Starzecki, head of MCR Restoration Corp., whom sources identified as a witness against Assistant Housing Commissioner Wendell Walters.
