Some fans were a little upset when blonde actress Jennifer Lawrence was cast in the role of brunette heroine Katniss Everdeen for the film adaptation of bestselling book The Hunger Games. But it seems the 20-year-old star is starting to win round readers of the teen trilogy, having dyed her long tresses brown for the part.

The actress showed off her newly dyed brown hair on the David Letterman show yesterday as she briefly discussed the movie, which has been dubbed ‘the new Twilight.’ Wearing a blue dress and orange belt, Jennifer joked that the forthcoming film is nothing like the smash hit vampire saga, which made stars out of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. ‘We don’t suck blood,’ that’s sick,’ she told Letterman on her first appearance on the show. ‘It’s not a vampire deal.’

Discussing the film, which is adapted from the books by Suzanne Collins, she said: ‘It’s a violent futuristic movie where kids are readily selected from their home district to fight in an arena to the death.’ Lawrence has had something of a metaphoric rise to fame, being nominated for an Oscar this year for her role in indie movie Winter’s Bone.

And she has also been in demand for magazine shoots, this month posing for a series of stunning photos for Elle magazine. In an accompanying interview, the star admits she is still getting used to her newfound celebrity status. ‘When you’re on set, everybody’s like, “Oh, do you need water? Here’s 45 bottles!”‘  ’It’s really bizarre. I’m still getting used to it. I’m still in wonderland.’

Wearing a satin dress and leather belt by Miu Miu in one shot, the actress confesses she still has some very un-Hollywood-like habits. As she got ready for this year’s Oscars, she turned down the offer of a salad for something more substantial. ‘Fifteen minutes before, the guy doing my hair goes, “If you can get a salad, get a salad.” I said, “I’m getting a Philly cheesesteak.” I’m sure there’s proof on a hotel bill somewhere,’ she recalls.

But however down to earth she is now, Jennifer has this week admitted that she worried about taking on The Hunger Games role  – this year’s most hotly anticipated teen movie. ‘I knew that as soon as I said “yes,” my life would change,’ she tells Entertainment Weekly magazine.  ’And I walked around thinking “It’s not too late, I could still go back and do indies. I haven’t said “yes” yet, it’s not too late.’ In the end, it was her mother who convinced her to accept the role in the film, which also stars Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci. ‘She told me I was being a hypocrite,’ recalls Jennifer.

‘All of the times that I was was doing indies and passing on studio films, people would ask me why, and I always said “I don’t care about the budget of the movie or the size of it. I care about the story.”‘

‘And my mum said: ‘This is a story that you love, and you’re thinking about saying no to it because of the size of it. Hypocrite!’

‘And she was right. I love this story and if I had said no, I would regret it every day.’

However, Jennifer confesses she is scared about ‘messing up’ the role.

‘I’m terrified,’ she says. ‘Is it going to be good enough? Am I going to be good enough?’

The Hunger Games is slated to be released next spring.

(Daily Mail Reporter) She is an up-and-coming actress who won critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for her role in the cold and grim independent drama Winter’s Bone. But there is nothing frosty about Jennifer Lawrence in her sizzling photo shoot for GQ.

The stunning 20-year-old looks scorching hot as she flaunts her sexy bikini body in the May issue of the men’s magazine. Slipping into a daring Chloe two-piece and some D&G hot pink wedges, the doe-eyed blonde beauty displays her dangerous curves. She also looks white hot in a cream scallop-edged swimsuit as she lies spread out on a leather couch. Striking a seductive pose, Jennifer’s shoot is certainly alluring.

The actress is fast accumulating a legion of fans, including British director Matthew Vaughn, who directed Jennifer in the eagerly anticipated X-Men: First Class. ‘There are a lot of young American actors right now who haven’t got any technique,’ he told GQ.  ‘And to be blunt, a lot of these kids assume that just by having a good set of teeth and tits, smiling for the camera’s gonna be enough. I needed someone who could act.’ Hollywood legend Jodie Foster is also a Jennifer enthusiast. The 48-year-old actress and director cast the young actress in dark comedy The Beaver opposite Mel Gibson.

Jennifer is also set to star as Katniss Everdeen in the highly-anticipated Hunger Games trilogy for which she will reportedly be changing her look. According to reports, she will dye her blonde tresses to a much darker shade. Meanwhile the lead-up to Vaughn’s  X-Men: First Class is also getting red-hot. Easily the most anticipated blockbuster of the year, it also stars Mad Men’s January Jones.
